About the Client

26 North Yachts is a luxury yacht brokerage serving buyers, sellers, and charter clients in the 70’–150′ vessel niche. Alongside brokerage sales, the business offers charter management, dockage, financing, and a calendar of high-end travel and yachting events, all built on a reputation for expertise at the top end of the market.

The Challenge

26 North Yachts needed a website that could do more than showcase listings — it needed to work as a lead-generation engine for a genuinely complex business. The brief brought together several intersecting challenges:

Unifying a wide portfolio of services — Buy, Sell, Charter, Dockage, Financing, and Travel — into one coherent, navigable site architecture.
Powering listings and charter data dynamically, via live API feeds from Yachtbroker and Charter Index, rather than manually maintained content.
Building genuine SEO strength in a market where AI-driven search (ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI Overviews) is increasingly how luxury buyers begin their research.
Meeting the client’s ambition for cutting-edge, “AI-forward” functionality, while setting clear, honest boundaries around what current AI tools can responsibly deliver. Particularly around real-time data scraping and unverified chatbot responses.
Maintaining a design and content experience befitting a luxury audience, across a site with a large and varied page footprint.

The challenge, ultimately, was translating an ambitious AI vision into a scoped, buildable framework and one that delivered real search advantage without overpromising functionality that could mislead users or damage trust.

The Solution

We built 26 North Yachts on a custom WordPress framework using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), with a centralised, dynamic schema layer purpose-built for Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), and AI Integration Optimisation (AIO). Rather than hardcoding markup page by page, schema is generated dynamically from ACF inputs — so as content grows, the site’s machine-readable structure grows with it. On top of this foundation, we integrated live data feeds from Yachtbroker and Charter Index, connecting Buy, Sell, and Charter listings directly to source data. A Glossary custom post type and reusable FAQ component reinforce topical authority across the site, feeding both human readers and AI crawlers with clearly structured, citable content. Smart Search was layered in to help luxury buyers navigate a large inventory quickly, while a full component library — cards, accordions, hero banners, pricing tables, and custom ACF blocks, gave the internal team the flexibility to keep the site dynamic and current without developer support.

The Results: Before & After

Performance was one of the clearest wins of the rebuild. Before the new site launched, GTmetrix graded the old 26 North Yachts site a D, with a Performance score of just 58% and a Largest Contentful Paint of 3.0s; Lighthouse mobile testing scored Performance at 46 out of 100. On the live site, the rebuilt site now scores a GTmetrix Grade A, with Performance at 98% and Structure at 97%, Largest Contentful Paint down to 916ms, Total Blocking Time at 24ms, and a Cumulative Layout Shift of just 0.01. Lighthouse testing on the live site shows a Performance score of 96, Accessibility at 94, Best Practices at a perfect 100, and SEO at a perfect 100.

The upshot: a site that was previously slow to load and light on structure is now fast, stable, and built on a technical foundation strong enough to support the SEO and AI-search ambitions behind the whole project.

AI That Knows the Fleet

One of the standout additions to the 26 North Yachts experience is a live AI charter concierge, built directly into the website. Rather than leaving visitors to scroll through pages of listings on their own, the concierge chats with them in plain language — asking how many guests are travelling, what kind of trip they’re after, where they’d like to cruise, and what budget they have in mind — then instantly surfaces a shortlist of real, available yachts from 26 North’s own live inventory that actually match what they’re looking for.What makes this genuinely useful, rather than just a novelty, is that it’s grounded entirely in real data.

The concierge only ever recommends yachts that exist in 26 North’s current fleet, complete with real images and details, and it’s careful to keep pricing conversational and indicative — leaving final figures and availability to be confirmed by an actual broker. If a conversation drifts off-topic, it gently steers back to charter planning, and once someone’s found yachts they’re excited about, it invites them to leave their details for a broker follow-up, capturing warm, well-qualified leads along the way.For a luxury brokerage, this matters because it meets today’s buyers where they already are — busy, likely researching outside office hours, and increasingly used to getting instant, tailored answers rather than static web pages. The concierge gives every visitor that same responsive, white-glove feel the brand is known for, day or night, while making sure every promising conversation still ends up in front of a real broker who can close it properly.

AI-Ready Schema Architecture (GEO/AEO/AIO)

A centralised JSON-LD system outputs Organisation, LocalBusiness, BreadcrumbList, Product/Offer, and FAQPage schema dynamically from ACF fields, with no hardcoding. Built around a nested, nested-entity approach linked via @id, the architecture is designed to help AI search tools like ChatGPT and Gemini surface and cite 26 North Yachts accurately, rather than relying on unverified third-party scraping tools.
Live Yacht & Charter Data Feeds

Buy, Sell, and Charter pages are powered by direct API integrations with Yachtbroker and Charter Index, keeping listings, pricing, and availability current without manual upkeep — with Product and Offer schema turning listings into rich, AI- and search-ready results.
Smart Search & Content Architecture

Smart Search, a Glossary CPT, and a reusable FAQ repeater work together to make a large, varied site easy to navigate for luxury buyers, while building the topical depth and internal linking structure that supports both traditional SEO and AI-driven discovery.
Mobile-First, Responsive Design

With yacht buyers browsing from a phone as often as a desktop, every page was built and tested across desktop, tablet, and mobile breakpoints, with an interactive layer to responsive behaviour, finger-friendly navigation, and layouts that stack and resize cleanly on smaller screens.
Integrated Forms & CRM-Ready Lead Capture

Contact, newsletter, and yacht enquiry forms were built to route leads reliably by SMTP, with the underlying structure in place to connect into Zoho CRM — keeping the traditional lead-capture pathways strong alongside the site’s AI-forward search positioning.

Integrating AI Ambition with Digital Best Practice

Every part of the site was designed around the expectations of a luxury audience: clean, image-led layouts, clear pathways from inspiration to inquiry, and a component library, testimonial blocks, feature grids, contact blocks, pricing tables built for consistency across Buy, Sell, Charter, and Events content alike. Where the client’s ambitions extended into creating a gated “Intelligence” data portal, AI-generated visualisations, or removing lead-capture forms in favour of a chatbot. We worked closely with the team to find the right balance: preserving the AI-forward positioning they wanted, while protecting the SEO, accessibility, and conversion pathways that keep the business generating qualified leads.
